At this project, Yuliya was invited to take on the complex renovation of the second floor of a 15-year-old house. The layout presented serious architectural challenges: the entire floor sat beneath a steep hip roof, cutting into the walls and ceilings of every room with sharp, irregular angles.

The main task was to transform one large open space into two separate children's bedrooms and to redesign the master bedroom — all while working within the existing structural limitations. To create a sense of visual unity and calm, Yuliya used the technique of painting the ceilings the same colour as the walls, helping to visually soften the awkward geometry and “dissolve” the sharp transitions.

The client, a passionate admirer of dark interiors, requested a bold and dramatic palette. As a result, all rooms, including the children's spaces, were designed in deep, moody tones — proving that darkness can feel both cozy and elegant when handled with care.

Dark tones. Warm soul

The renovation is being carried out in phases to ensure comfort for the family still living in the house. Future stages will include the ground floor and a spacious basement featuring a private SPA and swimming pool area.

Results

Yuliya successfully transformed a structurally challenging attic-level space into a stylish, comfortable second floor tailored to a modern family's needs. Each room now feels balanced and intentional, despite the sloping ceilings and irregular geometry.
