The Parkway Inn is a well-known local pub located in the Bridge of Don area of Aberdeen. After many years of closure, its return was highly anticipated by the community. The redesign of this venue marked an important milestone for interior designer Yuliya Forrest — it was her very first commercial project in the United Kingdom.

Yuliya led the project from start to finish: entering the site at the construction stage, coordinating with builders, selecting materials, and curating every design element. Her goal was to merge the charm of a traditional British pub with fresh, modern touches that would make the space feel both authentic and renewed.

The interior is anchored by a rich dark blue palette in the main hall, paired with eye-catching mustard seating to introduce warmth and contrast. In the gaming room, Yuliya paid homage to Scottish heritage by using a classic tartan pattern with blue accents. Originally designed for billiards and darts, the room turned out so inviting that guests began requesting it for private events — a welcome bonus for the venue’s owners and a testament to the atmosphere created.

Bold Blues, Tartan Accents & Timeless Comfort

Particular attention was given to the restroom design — something often overlooked in British pubs. For Yuliya, every space matters. She used deep blue tiles and luxurious wallpaper with a bold, elegant pattern to craft a stylish, intimate setting. This detail proved that even small spaces can elevate the overall experience.

The redesign not only revived a neighborhood favorite but also brought renewed life and community spirit to the area. For Yuliya Forrest, it was a meaningful beginning to her UK journey — and a project that continues to receive heartfelt appreciation.
